If the answer is "Yes", then the following "September Specials" are a perfect fit for you.

Statistical Solutions Inc., is organizing a total of six hands-on RStudio workshops. The six hands-on workshops are designed to introduce RStudio to those who are looking to use R for applied statistical analyses tasks. The workshops will help participants understand the fundamentals of how R “operates” so that they can begin to use RStudio independently. All the workshops are organized by Mariola Moeyaert (Associate professor statistics). The instructor will share detailed content slides, practice data sets, and annotated R code with the participants.

An overview of the workshops, with a link to register, is provided below:

  1. Introduction to the RStudio Statistical Computing Environment

Date: September 1, 2021; 11AM-3PM EST

General Workshop Description

This 4 hour hands-on workshop will be taught by Mariola Moeyaert, Ph.D, Associate professor of Statistics. through Zoom. Topics include importing and exporting data, data coding, cleaning and management, as well as how to perform basic descriptive statistical analyses and data visualizations.

2. Usage of RStudio for Basic and Intermediate Inferential Statistical Analysis Techniques

Date: September 7, 2021; 11AM-3PM EST

General Workshop Description

This hands-on RStudio workshop is focusing on basic/intermediate inferential statistical analysis techniques, such as correlational analyses techniques, simple and multiple regression, one-sample and two sample t-testing, and time permitting analysis of variance.

3. Usage of RStudio for Regression Techniques and Hierarchical Linear Modeling

Date: September 8, 2021

General Workshop Description

This hands-on workshop is focusing on the usage of RStudio to run regression models (including univariate and multivariate regression, and logistic regression), and hierarchical linear models in order to provide an answer to practical questions.

4. Usage of RStudio for Intermediate Statistical Analysis Techniques: Meta-Analysis and Propensity Score Analysis

Date: September 22, 2021; 11AM-3PM EST

General Workshop Description

This hands-on workshop is organized to introduce the use of RStudio to run intermediate data analysis techniques. Two intermediate data analytic techniques will be introduced: Meta-Analysis and Propensity Score Analysis.

5. Usage of RStudio for Intermediate Statistical Analysis Techniques: Structural Equation Modeling and Regression Discontinuity

Date: September 28, 2021; 11AM-3PM EST

General Workshop Description

This hands-on workshop is organized to introduce the use of RStudio to run intermediate data analysis techniques. Two intermediate data analytic techniques will be introduced: Structural Equation Modeling and Regression Discontinuity.

6. Data Visualizations using RStudio

Date: October 6, 2021; 11AM-3PM EST

General Workshop Description

Data visualization is the quickest and most powerful technique to understand new and existing information. Exploratory data analysis (EDA) through visualizations marks the starting point of each data science project. The graphs produced during the EDA can inform which data analytic technique is best suitable. The data visualization can help communicating data science findings.

This workshop will guide you how to think about good data visualization. Through a series of worked out examples, you will learn how to use ggplot to make graphs piece by piece. The emphasis throughout is on acquiring a practical feel for and good judgement about the way ggplot can be used, from the simplest cases to sophisticated, highly customized data visualizations.

Just like this, 5 months went by since our last post. Recent months, there was a high demand for workshops, statistical software demonstrations (RStudio, SAS, Matlab, SPSS, MPlus, and Stata) and individual statistical (+ data analysis) consultancy. We are glad that we could accommodate all requests over the summer, and currently we are accepted new ones (trainings, workshops, software demonstrations, statistical/data analysis consultancy, reporting of results, etc.). We are looking forward to hearing from you, and assisting you with your specific needs. Please contact us by submitting a request through this website, or by e-mailing: mariolamoeyaert@gmail.com

As the amount of research studies is growing exponentially, meta-analytic techniques play a crucial role as they enable to:

- Quantitatively synthesize results across studies to make general conclusions;

- Reduce sampling error;

- Contribute to evidence-based decisions in practice, policy and research.

- Provide detailed information (e.g., what works, when, where, for who and at which cost).

A 2-day meta-analysis workshop is organized to provide hands-on exposure to the process involved in conducting a meta-analysis from the planning stage, through the selection of appropriate statistical techniques, through the issues involved in analyzing data, to the interpretation of results. Examples and case studies from the social sciences will be integrated into the discussions and lectures. Day 1 and day 2 of the workshop are designed independently, which allows participants to sign up for one or multiple days depending on their interest and level of experience.
